    •    CM Chandrababu Naidu at the 'Animal Husbandry – Tech AI 2.0 Conclave' in Vijayawada

Amaravati, May 14, 2025: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the Animal Husbandry Department, which plays a vital role in driving Andhra Pradesh’s growth, will continue to receive top priority under his government. Currently, the sector contributes 11.23% to the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), a testament to its importance in the overall economy.

Speaking at the Animal Husbandry-Tech AI 2.0 Conclave held in Vijayawada, CM Naidu noted Andhra Pradesh’s impressive national rankings in the sector—first in egg production, fifth in meat production, and seventh in milk production. He stated that the dairy industry is a transformative force in rural economies, with over 42 lakh families depending on livestock for their livelihoods. The Chief Minister interacted directly with dairy farmers and shepherds to understand their income and expenditure patterns, and explored innovations in dairy, poultry, and livestock farming, especially the role of Artificial Intelligence.

    APs Growth Trajectory

Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s growth story, CM Naidu stated that the state's livestock GSDP grew from ₹43,127 crore in 2014–15 to ₹91,633 crore by 2018–19, marking a 21% CAGR during the TDP government’s tenure. However, the growth rate declined to 11% between 2019–24. In 2024–25, the livestock sector earned ₹1.69 lakh crore in revenue. The target for 2025–26 is set at ₹1.95 lakh crore. He stressed that dairy development significantly helped double farmers' incomes during the previous TDP regime, and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reviving the sector for inclusive growth.

    AP leads in Agriculture

The Chief Minister underlined the need to promote high-value horticulture crops, which bring higher returns compared to traditional farming. Horticulture on 18 lakh hectares currently generates ₹1.55 lakh crore, while agriculture across 50 lakh hectares brings in ₹55,000 crore. The goal is to double the horticulture area to 36 lakh hectares. CM Naidu also reiterated that Andhra Pradesh continues to lead in agriculture, but must now improve performance in the services and industrial sectors. While Telangana earns 67% of its income from services, AP lags at 46%.

He pointed out the global shift in food preferences towards protein-rich and health-focused diets like millets, fruits, and vegetables. To support this trend, micro-irrigation is being prioritized to boost horticulture. The CM recalled submitting a detailed report on micro-irrigation to then Prime Minister Vajpayee, which continues to serve as a foundational reference today. He said Andhra Pradesh has become a national model in micro-irrigation practices.

Livestock and allied sectors help alleviate poverty

Outlining the government's vision for livestock and poultry industries, CM Naidu announced key reforms including the exemption of property and house tax on village-level dairy sheds. The government will streamline Central schemes online, review mobile veterinary ambulance requirements, and integrate NREGS for water supply and fodder-related work. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan will work closely with departments to design actionable roadmaps. The state will provide solar power up to 1,000 units, introduce grass-cutting machines for women, and expand micro-irrigation to 2.5 lakh acres this year.

He also affirmed targeted support for traditional occupational communities among Backward Classes, including Yadavs and Kurubas, to ensure their economic upliftment.

    I Never Quit Learning

“I will always remain a student, constantly learning,” said CM Naidu, stressing the importance of technology adoption for efficiency. Referring to his contribution to Hyderabad’s IT growth, he noted that 35% of Indian high-income professionals globally are Telugu people. He encouraged fostering entrepreneurship through technology and knowledge-based initiatives such as GFST (Global Forum for Sustainable Transformation), which organised the conclave. CM Naidu assured support for the forum's expansion as a national platform, and cited examples of successful service institutions like Nandi Foundation and Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.

We are overcoming five years of destruction

Reflecting on the setbacks of the last five years, CM Naidu said the previous regime left Andhra Pradesh in debt to the tune of ₹10 lakh crore and destroyed the state's brand image. He is now rebuilding AP’s credibility and welcoming investors back. Under the “P4” (People, Public, Private, Partnership) model inspired by NTR, his government aims to eliminate poverty and reduce inequality while raising living standards.

During the conclave, the Chief Minister held interactive sessions with professionals from various backgrounds. Narendra Yadav, a sheep farmer, said young people visit his farm daily to learn about sheep rearing. In Jammalamadugu constituency alone, 13 new sheep farms were established based on his example. He requested 24/7 single-phase electricity supply.

Kova producer Zubeda shared how she began selling at DWCRA bazaars in 2014 during Naidu’s previous term, later expanding to cattle rearing. Despite difficulties during the previous government’s tenure, she persevered.

Dairy entrepreneur Sripadma explained the high costs of water and electricity for growing fodder and requested government support in providing solar panels to reduce expenses. She currently pays ₹15,000 per month for electricity to run a 10kV system for her 50 cattle.

Chief Minister Naidu concluded by reiterating that the state is overcoming the destructive legacy of the past five years and reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding Brand Andhra Pradesh with credibility, innovation, and inclusive growth
