P4 programme launched from Ugadi Day, 40 lakh families are eligible to be beneficiaries

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said the 'Public Private People Partnership' (P4) programme of his government being launched from Ugadi Day is principally aimed at poverty eradication. “The P4 policy would strengthen the poor financially,” the chief minister said on Thursday while chairing a meeting on the programme, which he termed a family empowerment-benefit management system. He said the families that are wealthy should stand by the poor. The need is to have a structured and sustainable policy to take this plan forward.

Across the state, officials felt, about 40 lakh families are eligible to be beneficiaries of the program. A household survey is on in 10 districts in the first phase. This would be completed by March 2. The second phase will cover 16 districts from March 8 to 18. After the survey is completed, the details of all the eligible families will be incorporated in the Samridhi Bandhanam. Chief secretary Vijayanand and officials of the Planning Department were present.
CM Chandrababu Naidu asked officials to create a special portal to gather advice, suggestions and opinions from the public vis-à-vis the P-4. “The P4 model would be executed by incorporating people's thoughts and feedback, particularly in the area of poverty eradication.” He noted that several industrialists have promised to develop their native towns and mandals. “Those showing an interest in the programme would be personally invited to participate in the launch of the P4 model on Ugadi Day. Our aim is poverty eradication.”

Officials informed the CM that verification of the financial status of five lakh low-end families will be completed by August and the P-4 can be implemented in four villages as a pilot project through which 5,869 families would get the benefits of the policy. “Those who own two acres of wetland and five acres of dryland, or more, the government employees, those who are paying income tax, those who own four-wheelers, those having properties in municipal areas and families who are financially sound are exempted from availing the benefits under this project.
