PM Modi video conference on investments in the economy, power sector reforms
Amravati, March 5:Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a webinar video conference organized with various central and state officials on the topic of Union Budget-investments in the economy, power sector reforms from Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that plans are being prepared and implemented to make India a 5 trillion Economy as part of Vikasit Bharat 2047. Speaking on the issue of investment in the economy, he said that the central government's goal is to take quality medical services to the field level and appropriate efforts are being made.He said that more funds have been allocated for the education system with artificial intelligence (AI) in the Union Budget. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that high priority has also been given to the promotion of health tourism in the budget.
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, who participated in the video conference, said that there is a need to provide adequate incentives to increase inter-state transmission capacity in the state. He said that it can be linked to planned renewable energy capacities and green hydrogen projects. The power sector is the backbone of our country's infrastructure, which is essential for economic growth and better quality of life. Vijayanand said that increasing inter-state transmission is a key component of power sector reforms aimed at increasing the capacity, reliability and efficiency of the power grid in the states. Similarly, although power generation has increased 100 times since independence, continuous reforms are needed to keep pace with the increasing demand. He said that there is a need to invest more in modern transmission infrastructure to reduce transmission losses and increase grid stability.He said that steps such as addressing high losses and improving billing efficiency and ensuring timely tariff revisions are needed for the financial stability of DISCOMs.
CS Vijayanand said that India's clean energy transition needs to be strengthened to meet climate targets and diversify energy sources to expand renewable energy capacity. Similarly, public-private partnerships in the energy sector need to be further enhanced. He said that there is a need to promote energy conservation and smart metering initiatives under consumer participation. He said that increasing inter-state transmission is a key component of power sector reforms aimed at increasing the capacity, reliability and efficiency of the power grid in the states.CS Vijayanand said that Andhra Pradesh is committed to using this opportunity to drive sustainable development, reduce transmission losses and support economic growth, ultimately benefiting both the state and the country.
