The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has organized lunchtime demonstrations today at SBI SME Patamata branch and all public sector bank branches. This is in accordance to their strike call on January 30th and 31st to combat unresolved demands.
The union has demanded that the Government takes into consideration their demands which included the introduction of five banking days a week, an updation of pensions for past retirees, resolution of residual issues, adequate recruitment in all cadres to ensure better customer service, the scrapping of the new pension schemes and the restoration of the old pension scheme, and the commencement of immediate negotiations on a charter of demands for wage revision.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella body of several bank unions, decided to go on two-day strike from January 30 to press for their various demands, a top All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) official said.The decision was taken at a meeting of UFBU held in Mumbai
"UFBU meeting was held in Mumbai. since there is no response from Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on our demands despite letters, it has been decided to revive our ..our agitation and to give a call for strike on January 30 and 31," AIBEA General Secretary CH Venktachalam
According to him, the strike is to press for the following demands: five days banking, updation of pension, residual issues, scrapping of National Pension System (NPS), immediate starting of negotiation on charter of demands for wage revision, and adequate recruitment in all cadres AIBEA General Secretary C.H. Venkatachalam told Media.
