Vijayawada, 14-08-2024: Government of Andhra Pradesh is keen to promote Solar Rooftop Systems in domestic sector and GovernmentInstitutions under the PM Surya Ghar schemelaunched by Government of India.Under this scheme it is proposed to Solarise the Government buildings in the State to meet the power requirement through solar energy in environmentally sustainable manner. In this connection, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. has approached the State Government for implementation of Solar Rooftop Systems in the Govt. Buildings.
NVVN have signed MoU with NREDCAP on 14.08.2024 in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu garu and the Hon’ble Minister of Energy, Sri Gottipati Ravi Kumar garu.
Sri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, NTPC, Ms. Renu Narang, CEO of NVVN, Sri. K Vijayanand, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to Government, Energy Department, Sri. K.V.N. Chakradhara Babu, IAS, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, NREDCAP are also present .
It is proposed to implement 300 MW Solar Roof Top Systems in the Govt. Buildings in the first phase. NVVN will install the Solar Rooftop Systems and deliver the solar power at levelized tariff which is uniform for a period of 25 years. It is also the responsibility of the NVVN to operate and maintain the Solar Rooftop Systemsfor 25 years at free of cost.
On installation of Solar Rooftop Systems, the Govt. departments will save substantial amounts towards energy bills.The estimated annual savings on implementation of 300 MW Solar Rooftop Systems in Government Buildings is Rs. 118.27 Crores. The savings over a period of 25 years is Rs. 2957 Crores.
Installation of 300 MW Solar Rooftop System results in reduction of Carbon Emissions to an extent of 3.41 Lakh Metric Tons per Annum or 85.25 Lakh Metric Tons over a period of 25 years.
