Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy felicitated the state-level rank-holders from the government and government-managed educational institutions by giving them the Jagananna Animutyalu Awards on Tuesday.

The CM stated, "We need to do more in the educational sector like changing the examination system and introducing the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus at the school level to ensure that our students win top positions in their respective fields and become global leaders."

Jagan Mohan Reddy felicitated 42 students who topped in Class X and 26 students who achieved group-wise ranks in Intermediate, with the Animutyalu awards. This apart, 20 students who have shown excellence in higher education in five categories were felicitated with state excellence awards. In all, 22,710 students were felicitated with Jagananna Animutyalu awards across the state.

Addressing the students and their parents before giving away the awards here, the Chief Minister described the rankers as bright minds and shining stars, who are "the future of AP."

Congratulating the rank-holders, he said, "It is a matter of pride for all that girls are 24 among the 42 top rankers in Class X, and 22 of the 26 top rankers in Intermediate too are girls."

The state government has introduced education reforms with a view to "turning our students into global leaders, by equipping them with balanced and mature thought while enabling them attain the knowledge of emerging and future technologies like artificial intelligence, data management, machine learning, Chat GPT etc."

"Our students should not be just followers of emerging technologies, they should become technology leaders. Quality education is required to achieve this goal," he stated.

Stressing that students and parents should change in tune with the fast- changing educational systems across the globe, the CM urged them to aim high.

"We have changed the face of education in government schools with more facilities through Nadu-Nedu, CBSE syllabus and English medium, bilingual textbooks with a private online education player’s content, modern curriculum, content-loaded tabs to students of Class VIII, subject teacher-concept from Class III and digital teaching from Class VI," the CM said.

These apart, training is being imparted to Class III students for TOEFL certification with the aim of making them attain best communication skills.

The CM explained, "In order to prevent the poor families from falling into debt-trap because of their children’s educational pursuits, the government has been implementing schemes like Amma Vodi, Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, Vasathi Deevena and Videshi Vidya Deevena. These have boosted their self-confidence. We need to do more in the educational sector like changing the examination system and introducing the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus at the school level to ensure that our students attain top positions in their respective fields and become perfect global leaders," he said.

He said the reforms have reduced the drop-out rate. "Like your maternal uncle, I will do more for you with the blessings of God," he said.

During the interactions, a Class X girl student told the CM that her mother has been suffering from lung cancer. The Chief Minister directed the officials to extend necessary medical treatment to the girl’s mother.

Another top ranker informed the CM that he had become a loner after his care-taker teacher was transferred to a different place. "After the death of my parents, the teacher has been taking care of me. Now the teacher has been transferred, there is no one to look after me," the student informed the CM. Moved by the student’s plight, the CM asked the official to do the needful to assuage his feelings.
