We have to win 175 out of 175 seats : YS Jagan

    STAFF REPORTER
    • June 22,2023

The YSR Congress Party should win all the 175 Assembly seats in the coming elections, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy  reiterated here on Wednesday.

Reviewing the ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam’ programme at his Tadepalli camp office here with MLAs, district party presidents and coordinators, he called for resolving issues at the field level. After the present Jagananna Suraksha, there would be another programme to reach the people, he revealed.

“Gadapa Gadapaku programme is key and it should be taken with all seriousness. It’s very useful and the next nine months are very crucial for us. We have to win 175 out of 175 seats. If the work of MLAs is satisfactory, they will be continued. Several crores of people are dependent on us as we are able to do them good,” he stated.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, getting his YSRC party set for the next assembly polls,  has advanced the slogan of ‘Why AP Needs Jagan’ to woo voters and win a second term for his party in power.

By raising this slogan, the party leaders would go to the masses and explain to them the unbiased and transparent manner in which the government implemented the welfare and development programmes.

The chief minister has put a target of winning all the 175 assembly seats in the 2024 elections.

The surveys he has commissioned has found that 18 legislators lagged behind in the mass interaction programme and they were poor performers overall. They, it is felt, cannot be given party tickets for the 2024 elections. The CM has asked his legislators to take the Jagananna Suraksha programme of the party that starts on July 1 as a challenge and mingle with the masses.

The chief minister has asked the cadre to take the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam programme (governance at door step) seriously and involve in it vigorously during the next 10 months before the polls.

Addressing the YSRC MLAs, MLCs, ministers, district unit presidents and regional coordinators at a workshop on Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam here on Wednesday, Jagan Reddy also explained the modalities of Jagananna Suraksha from June 23 to be followed by a `Why AP Needs Jagan' programme.

"Crores of poor people are dependent on the welfare programmes being implemented by the government and the cadre would take the party much closer to the hearts of the people by playing a proactive role in the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam, identifying their problems and solving them," he said.

The CM said that the Jagananna Suraksha would be followed by a ‘Why AP Needs Jagan’ campaign, through which people would be enlightened about the "revolutionary changes" brought about by the YSRC government in the last four years and they would be convinced about the need for continuation of the present dispensation for another five years.

Reaffirming his resolve to deny party tickets to poor performers, the CM said, "Good performance of the MLAs would be good for them and the party. Non-performance would harm their interests and the interests of the party. MLAs, coordinators and activists should explain the failures of the TD and achievements of the YSRC by juxtaposing the differences."

"Do not blame me if poor performers do not get tickets in the 2024 elections. So better your graphs and performances. I will talk directly to the poor performers about their graphs," he said.

Jagan Reddy said 92  per cent of the rural people and 84 per cent of the urban population were benefitted from the welfare programmes. The party cadre should be well-prepared in taking the beneficiaries along with them in countering the malicious propaganda of the opposition, he said.

"You should achieve this task in close coordination with secretariat conveners, Gruhasaradhulu and volunteers," the CM told them.

Performance is the only yardstick for giving party tickets in the next elections, he asserted.

Explaining about the Jagananna Suraksha that supplements the Jaganannaku Chebudam, the CM said, "Volunteers, Gruhasaradhulu and secretariat staff would visit all families and find out the unresolved issues that would be solved by mandal and municipal-level official teams later.  District collectors and other official teams also would visit the villages every week."

"They would also take steps to enroll more beneficiaries for the welfare benefits. Despite having the eligibility, some might have been left out. They need to be included in the schemes beside issuing them the necessary support documents like marriage certificates and ration cards. For this, two camps would be held in every mandal of every constituency every day for a month from July 1."

MLAs should be present to do coordination for the Jagananna Suraksha. Orientation workshops for the party cadre will begin from June 23," Jagan Reddy said.
