58-day-long festivities at Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple commence Sunday following Sankrant

Siddipet: The annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple at Komuravelly began on a religious note on Sunday morning with the Patnamvaram ritual, marking the start of the 58-day-long festivities.

A large number of devotees from Telangana and other parts of the country participated in the opening rituals. The festivities commence every year on the Sunday following Sankranti and conclude on the Sunday immediately preceding Ugadi. Each Sunday during the 58-day jathara is observed as a special day.

According to temple authorities, at least one lakh devotees turned up for darshan of the presiding deity on Saturday and Sunday. The coming Sunday will be observed as Lashkar Varam, when a large number of devotees from Secunderabad are expected to participate in the event.

The police, district administration and temple authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth and hassle-free visit for devotees
