Hyderabad IIT and Goa Shipyard signed MoU with AI, digital twin technologies

The Centre for Geospatial AI and Digital Twins (CGDT) of the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) and Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionise shipbuilding through artificial intelligence and digital twin technologies.

According to a press release, this strategic collaboration, undertaken in association with Neer Interactive Solutions Private Limited and Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS) Arts, and Science College, would leverage the expertise of CGDT of IIT-H to enhance efficiency, security and sustainability in maritime operations.

The partnership will drive innovation by optimising vessel design, strengthening shipyard security and implementing advanced 360-degree surveillance solutions powered by Geospatial AI and object detection AI. By integrating generative AI and digital twin technologies, this initiative aims to set new global standards in India’s shipbuilding sector, it said.

Director of IIT-H, Prof BS Murty said CGDT-IIT Hyderabad, in collaboration with Neer Interactive and Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS), were pioneering a holistic Geospatial AI model with 360-degree maritime security solutions. The initiative was the first of its kind in India and across Asia, he said.

CMD, GSL, BK Upadhyay, Chairman, AMS, Dittakavi Chakrapani and CEO, Neer Interactive Solutions, Jai Sankar Aluru, among others were present.
