Nalgonda: As part of the decision of the Andhra Pradesh government to close its borders from 12 noon to 6 am, the AP police stopped vehicles at Grikepadu, Pondugula, and Macherla check-posts and denied entry into their State after 12 noon. The move comes amidst the mini-lockdown being implemented from Wednesday.

Vehicles would be allowed into Andhra Pradesh only between 6 am and 12 noon. Ambulances, goods vehicles, doctors, and persons who have flight tickets and need to reach Gannavaram airport, however, are exempted from the restriction

The restrictions will continue till May 18 as per the GO issued by the Andhra Pradesh government. The AP police also imposed Section 144 at Grikepadu border check post near Kodad in Suryapet district, Pondugula board check-post near Wadapally, and Macherla check-post near Nagarjuna Sagar in Nalgonda district.

With the police disallowing entry of vehicles after 12 noon, people travelling to AP in their own vehicles returned from the place. TSRTC and APSRTC buses are also not exempted from the rule.

There is, however, no restriction on the movement of vehicles from Andhra Pradesh into Telangana State.
