CM A Revanth Reddy urged PM Modi to approve and fund a series of crucial infrastructure projects

NEWDELHI : Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve and fund a series of crucial infrastructure projects, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, the southern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and the Musi River Rejuvenation project, among others.

During an hour-long meeting with the Prime Minister at the latter’s residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy sought the Centre’s approval for five new Metro corridors covering 76.4 km at a cost of Rs 24,269 crore. He emphasised the need for expanding the Metro Rail operations amid rapid city expansion.

The Chief Minister pressed for the sanction of funds for the southern RRR, stating that around 90 per cent of land acquisition for the northern part is complete and informed that Telangana was bearing 50 per cent of the land acquisition cost. Additionally, he proposed a Regional Ring Rail project parallel to the RRR to enhance connectivity. He also sought a dry port near the RRR to boost exports and imports from landlocked Telangana.

Revanth Reddy also submitted representations seeking Rs 20,000 crore for revival of the Musi River as part of his Musi River Rejuvenation project, for setting up Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs), retaining walls, and inter-linking with Godavar River. He also sought 29 additional IPS cadre posts to address rising cybercrime and law enforcement needs. He urged approval for launching the India Semiconductor Mission in Telangana, citing favourable conditions in the State for semiconductor manufacturing.
Meanwhile, sources said the Chief Minister also briefed the Prime Minister about the SLBC tunnel mishap and also the ongoing rescue operations to save the eight workers who were trapped inside the tunnel. They also reportedly discussed on the BC reservations and SC categorisation in the State.
IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, DGP Jitender and other officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
