COVID TIMES : Sri Rama Navami festivities including the celestial wedding without much fanfare

Hyderabad: For the second consecutive year, the Sri Rama Navami festivities at Bhadrachalam will be celebrated without much fanfare due to Corona pandemic. The State government decided to organise the Sri Rama Navami festivities including the celestial wedding without much fanfare, said Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy.

Since last few days, there is considerable rise in Corona cases and as a means to contain the spread of virus, the government has decided to impose restrictions on all religious gatherings and festivities.

The Endowments Minister said like last year, the festivities will be organized with limited participation and as per covid guidelines issued by the government. The rituals will be performed as per the Aghama Sashtra within the temple premises. In view of the Corona, the devout are appealed not to turn up at Badrachalam temple to witness the celestial wedding of Lord Sri Rama and Goddess Sita.

As a means to contain the spread of Corona virus and as a precautionary measure, restrictions are being imposed on the devotees turnout at the temple, Indrakaran Reddy said and urged the devotees to cooperate with the temple management. The entire celestial wedding and Sri Rama Navami festivities will be telecast live and devotees are appealed to watch the proceedings through television channels.

Regarding the Kalyanam tickets booked by devotees online, the Minister said the money will be refunded to the devotees.

The Minister further said that considering the Corona pandemic, it has been decided to facilitate Darshan at all the temples across the State as per Covid-19 guidelines. Instructions have been issued to the temples officials in this regard. The temple managements were also directed to sanitise the entire temple premises frequently.

Devotees will have to visit the temples duly wearing masks and maintaining physical distance and extend their support to the temple staff to avoid any inconvenience, he added.

The Minister also spoke to Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar, Endowments Commissioner and district administration in this regard
