Central team visits site : New airport near Nagarjuna Sagar

Nalgonda: A team from the Airports Authority of India visited Nagarjuna Sagar to assess the suitability of the land available for developing a new airport. The team inspected the old airport in Vijayapuri South and its surrounding areas.

The team has already reviewed several sites in the Andhra region. Vijayapuri South is one of them and it being preferred over other places for construction of the new airport spanning approximately 1600 acres, according to reports. A proposal for construction of the new airport at Nagarjuna Sagar has been under consideration as it would help develop the place as a tourism hub giving access to the places of tourism importance in both the Telugu States.

The central team from Delhi comprised ASN Murthy, Ravindra Tiwari, Arun Kumar, Amaan Chippa, Sajeev Abhilash and Usman.
