Hyderabad: The city in recent years has undergone a major metamorphosis in terms of infrastructure with flyovers, underpasses, Road under Bridges (RuBs), and Road over Bridges (RoBs) built as part of the State government’s Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).
The Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday tweeted a list of projects and added, “Govt. of Telangana has taken up the prestigious Strategic Road Development Project (#SRDP) as an ongoing effort to improve the infrastructure in Hyderabad. Take a look at the projects completed under this prestigious initiative.’
These improvements in the road infrastructure have not only helped address the issue of traffic movement and avoid snarls but also reduced the commuting time considerably in different parts of the city.
The makeover was possible due to the 23 SRDP projects built with Rs 2,028 crore. Among these, 19 were executed by the GHMC while three were executed by the HMDA, Roads & Buildings Department and National Highway Authority of India. Presently, with Rs 6,064 crores, 25 SRDP works are underway in different parts of the city.
Ayyappa Society Underpass, the first project completed under SRDP and inaugurated in January 2018, has helped in reducing traffic congestions on Shilparamam Road. Another project inaugurated the same year was the Mindspace Underpass which has come to help vehicles moving towards Gachibowli and other areas from Cyber Towers, Hitec City.
Similarly, with Durgam Cheruvu Cable Stay Bridge and the connecting flyover at Road Number 45, Jubilee Hills, the commuting time to reach Jubliee Hills from Madhapur has drastically reduced.
