Telangana Police stood in second place in Indian Police Foundation

Hyderabad: Telangana stood in second place with an 8.10 smart index score in the Indian Police Foundation (IPF) citizen satisfaction survey on smart policing -2021. Andhra Pradesh stood in first place with an 8.11 score.

In perception score of police sensitivity, accessibility, responsiveness and technology adoption, Telangana stood in first place with 8.27, 8.29, 8.28 and 8.17 scores respectively while in perception score of strictness and good behaviour, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh registered 8.14 scores and stood in first and second places, respectively.

In the perception score of fair, unbiased and lawful policing, accountability, public trust in the police, and helpful and friendly policing, Telangana is in second place with 7.97, 7.95, 8.07 and 8.08 scores compared to other States.

During the survey, 64 per cent of the responses were received

online and 36 per cent were gathered through face to face, telephonic interviews and other paper-based data gathering methods.

The IPF intends to obtain an evidence-based understanding of the ground realities of how India’s citizens perceive the police. This exercise provides an opportunity for all players and stakeholders to work together to build heightened awareness and devise strategies to improve competencies and reinforce values, the two fundamental dimensions of smart policing and public trust in the police, according to N. Ramachandran, a retired IPS officer and IPF president.
