Telangana won an award of excellence for emerging technologies for eGovernance

Hyderabad: Telangana won an award of excellence in the state category for emerging technologies for eGovernance at the 20the Computer Society of India-Special Interest Group (CSI-SIG) eGovernance Awards.

A first-of-its-kind dedicated vertical, Emerging Technologies (ET) Wing, was set up way back in 2017 to achieve Telangana’s vision to drive the growth of deep tech.

T-Chits, a project of the registrations and stamps department, also won an award of appreciation under the project category.

A statement said that T-Chits stood out as it was at the implementations stage while many blockchain projects across the globe ere in the pilot stage.  It said T-Chits was a revolutionary way of administering the registered chit fund business. Powered by the startup ChitMonks, it now integrated more than 38,000 groups handling nearly Rs 2,000 crrore auction turnover.  

Information technology minister K.T. Rama Rao said that the award of excellence in the adoption of emerging technologies was a recognition of the government’s efforts in leveraging technology to provide efficient and advanced services.

“We have adopted a unique approach to achieving our objectives, we call it the PPP Approach – policies, partnerships and projects. Our approach, which pushes the boundaries of technology adoption in governance, lays a strong foundation for an empowered Telangana where technology is used to serve the common man,” Rama Rao said.

Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, IT, said that the government had consistently taken a leading role in facilitating and promoting the utilisation of cutting-edge technologies across various sectors. He said the emerging technologies wing had played a vital role in the integration and implementation of eight emerging technologies, notably AI, blockchain, drones and cloud.
