Nalgonda: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday announced that water will be released into the second zone of the NS Left Canal from Palair Reservoir at 10 am on Monday to support irrigation. Accompanied by district collector Anudeep Durishetti, he conducted a surprise inspection of the Palair-Sagar Canal works at Jujularaopet in Kusumanchi mandal, Khammam district. He recalled that the main canal’s under-tunnel at Jujularaopet was washed out by floods in September 2024. While a temporary repair kept irrigation running, a permanent restoration, budgeted at ₹14.2 crore, was completed on schedule. To finish before the monsoon, labourers worked two shifts. Of the four lakh acres served by the reservoir, 1.33 lakh acres lie within the Palair Assembly constituency.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will release 1,500 cusecs of water into the main canal on Monday, with future releases adjusted based on reservoir levels. Earlier, the revenue minister laid the foundation stone for internal CC roads in Konaigudem, Nelakondapally mandal, at a cost of ₹20 lakh. Srinivas Reddy emphasised that the state government is balancing welfare and development to ensure comprehensive growth. Building on previous welfare schemes, the Congress administration has launched new initiatives to fulfil its poll promises. He noted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the distribution of 3.29 lakh new white ration cards on Monday at Tirumalgiri in Suryapet district. Finally, he affirmed that Indiramma houses will be sanctioned to all eligible families in phases. To prevent delays in construction, the government has arranged sand supplies for beneficiaries and formed mandal-level committees to regulate building-material prices
