After a couple of poor months in the red-ball format, Team India will now focus on the white-ball format with England being their first opponent before the Champions Trophy 2025 which starts next month. England will begin the India tour with five five-match T20I series with the first one being all set to be played starting January 22. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the contest between the two teams.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav is returning to action after nearly two months having led the Men in Blue in a four-match T20I series in South Africa last year. India went on to win the series 3-1. However, all eyes will be on Mohammed Shami who is making a comeback to the Indian team for the first time since the 2023 ODI World Cup. He will lead the pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, alongside Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.

India also has a strong spin unit featuring the likes of vice-captain Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar. Wicketkeeping duties will be shared by Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel.England on the other hand will be led by Jos Buttler. The bunch has a mixture of youth and experienced players. Harry Brook, who was named vice-captain for the series along with Liam Livingstone, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood will look to make a big impression. The 21-year-old Jacob Bethell has been making waves in the shortest format and will look to gets runs under hi sbelt in Indian conditions.
