Team India's hope of wrapping up the T20I series in Rajkot was dashed by England after the visitors registered victory by 26 runs. The series now stands 2-1 in favour of home team. Chasing 172 runs for victory, India kept on losing wickets at crucial intervals as batsmen played some rash shorts. Hardik Pandya top scored with 40 runs but the climbing run rate was too much to handle for the Indian batting lineup.
For England, Jamie Overton finished with 3 wickets and only conceded 23 runs in his 4 overs. Archer and Carse picked up 2 wickets apiece. India eventually finished their innings at 146/9. Team India stopped England at 171/9 with Varun Chakravarthy bagging a fifer in Rajkot. With Jos Buttler and Ben Duckett at the crease, England looked set for a big total. The duo put on 76 runs stand for the second wicket but Varun had other ideas. The Mystery spinner started with wicket of Jos Buttler before dismissing Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer. Varun finished with figures of 5/24 from his 4 overs.
