Punjab Kings delivered a clinical performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in a high-stakes IPL 2025 clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The victory not only gave Punjab two crucial points but also secured them a place in the Top 2, ensuring a spot in Qualifier 1, while Mumbai Indians will now compete in the Eliminator.

Mumbai Indians posted a competitive 184/7 in their 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings with a stylish 57 off 39 balls, smashing 6 fours and 2 sixes. He was ably supported by Ryan Rickelton, who chipped in with a brisk 27 off 20 deliveries, including 5 boundaries. Despite a solid platform, MI couldn't fully capitalize in the death overs, thanks to disciplined bowling from Punjab. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with figures of 2/28 in his 4 overs, including the crucial wickets that disrupted MI’s momentum.

In reply, Punjab Kings chased down the target with ease, reaching 187/3 in just 18.3 overs. Young opener Priyansh Arya set the tone early with a blistering 62 off 35 balls, laced with 9 boundaries and 2 towering sixes. His aggressive strokeplay laid the foundation for a comfortable chase. Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis then took charge, crafting a match-winning 73 off 42 balls, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. Inglis’ composure in the middle overs and aggressive acceleration ensured there were no hiccups in the run chase. For Mumbai, Mitchell Santner was the only bowler who managed to pose any serious challenge, returning with 2/41 in his 4-over spell.

With this dominant win, Punjab Kings cap off their league stage campaign on a high and march into Qualifier 1 with momentum and confidence. Mumbai Indians, though assured of a playoff berth, will have to regroup quickly as they prepare for the pressure-packed Eliminator.
