Krishna District Police Prioritize Women and Child Safety in Monthly Crime Review

April 10, 2025 : In a decisive move towards enhancing public safety and streamlining law enforcement efforts, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Krishna District,  R. Gangadhara Rao, IPS, chaired the monthly crime review meeting at the district police headquarters. The session was attended by officers from across the district, where comprehensive strategies were laid out to tackle various forms of crime, with a clear emphasis on the safety of women and children.

Addressing the gathering, SP Gangadhara Rao underscored that the security of women and children remains the top priority of the police force. He directed officials to move beyond reactive measures and adopt a proactive approach to crime prevention. “Preventing crime is far more impactful than merely investigating it post-occurrence. Our focus must be on creating a peaceful environment for all,” he asserted.

Swift Justice and Awareness for Women and Children

Highlighting the need for prompt justice, the SP instructed officers to ensure immediate registration of FIRs in cases involving women and children, followed by speedy investigations and timely filing of charge sheets. He also stressed on conducting awareness programs in schools and colleges, educating children about 'good touch' and 'bad touch'.

Special attention was given to strengthening the presence and functioning of Shakti Teams. These units are to carry out awareness campaigns in areas with high public footfall, ensuring victims feel empowered to report issues without fear or hesitation.

Crackdown on Cannabis

As part of the state’s special action plan to eliminate cannabis use, the district police have been urged to intensify operations. Officers were directed to identify and dismantle both forward and backward linkages in ganja-related cases. To aid these efforts, specialized teams have been formed to expedite investigations into pending NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases. Drones are being deployed for surveillance of secluded or deserted locations, dilapidated buildings, and other crime-prone zones.

Theft Prevention Measures

To counter rising incidents of theft, particularly during the summer vacation season when many households are left unattended, night patrols have been increased. CCS (Crime Control Station) teams and beat constables were instructed to monitor individuals listed on suspect, DC (Dossier Criminal), and KD (Known Delinquent) sheets closely. Officers were also advised to enhance surveillance in vulnerable areas.

Reducing Road Accidents Through Vigilant Policing

Focusing on road safety, SP Gangadhara Rao called for identification of accident-prone zones and installation of safety signage and barricades. He emphasized the importance of visible policing during high-risk hours. Traffic police in Penamaluru, Gannavaram, Gudivada, and Machilipatnam were specifically instructed to undertake focused initiatives to reduce accidents. Regular vehicle checks, strict enforcement of road safety rules, and action against drunk driving and open drinking were also mandated.

Cybercrime Control and Technological Integration

Acknowledging the surge in cybercrimes, a special Cyber Crime Team has been established in the district. Officers were instructed to leverage advanced technologies to identify and apprehend cybercriminals. Awareness programs on digital safety are to be conducted regularly, and all pending cybercrime investigations are to be concluded swiftly.

Strengthening Investigations and Community Policing

The SP urged for speedy trials and timely coordination with judicial officers. Under-investigation cases must be pursued with diligence, ensuring quality investigation and timely filing of charge sheets. Police officers were also asked to visit politically and communally sensitive villages to prevent any unrest and strengthen law and order.

Reinforcing the principles of friendly policing, the SP encouraged officers to deal empathetically with complainants, foster public trust, and maintain cleanliness and order in police stations. Special focus was laid on the handling of missing cases involving women and children.

Commending exceptional performers, SP Gangadhara Rao awarded officers who excelled in property offense investigations. He concluded the meeting by urging all personnel to uphold discipline, professionalism, and dedication, and to contribute to the positive image of the Krishna District Police.
