Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar announced that the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for electricity employees is under review in various stages, and a favorable decision will be made soon in the presence of the Chief Minister. On Tuesday, the Minister participated in the inauguration of the APSEB Diary-2025 and Calendar-2025 at the Venue Convention Hall, organized by APSEB employees. The Minister unveiled the Diary-2025, while APGENCO MD KVN Chakradhar Babu unveiled the Calendar-2025.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister lauded the efforts of electricity engineers who work tirelessly to sustain the organization. He emphasized that, unlike electricity boards in other states, the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Board is a service organization rather than a profit-oriented entity. He highlighted the shortage of Assistant Engineers (AEs) and linemen in districts and stressed the need to address this issue promptly. Despite these challenges, the employees risk their lives for the organization, he acknowledged.
He praised the state's electricity board for delivering superior services compared to other states, with employees working with renewed enthusiasm. He commended the dedication of staff who work 24/7 to supply quality electricity to the people. Reflecting on the Vijayawada floods, he recounted how electricity employees provided exceptional service and even donated ₹10 crores to support flood victims under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Inspired by this, employees from other departments also contributed to the relief efforts.
The Minister noted that the power sector witnesses annual growth of 6-7% and highlighted the increasing opportunities in renewable energy. He credited Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's vision for attracting investments in renewable energy, aiming to generate 30 GW of electricity in the state, with 7-8 GW from APGENCO. He assured that employees' concerns will be addressed and urged them to continue their efforts to provide quality electricity and improved services to the public.
APGENCO MD KVN Chakradhar Babu shared his experience of working as an engineer at the Vizag Steel Plant before joining civil services. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of electricity engineers, especially in night shifts, and assured that steps would be taken to increase the workforce in the coming days in coordination with the Chief Minister and Minister. He noted the unparalleled contribution of engineers post-electricity reforms and emphasized the growing importance of clean energy in the power sector, which was a key focus even during discussions at Davos with the Chief Minister.
The event was attended by APTRANSCO MD Keerthi Chekuri, APSEB leaders Samuel, Nagaprasad, Ramarao, Gopalakrishna, Shailendra, engineers, and other dignitaries.
