Amaravati, 2025:Under the leadership of State Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh implemented a series of transformative reforms in the education sector this year, significantly strengthening quality standards, transparency, and student-focused learning.
A major milestone was the successful completion of the Mega DSC recruitment, filling 16,347 teacher posts within 150 days, despite over 200 court cases, all resolved efficiently. Through the Teacher Transfer Act, the government ensured fully transparent, non-political teacher transfers using web-based counseling, while providing promotions to over 4,000 teachers. Andhra Pradesh also became the first state to introduce a Centralized Smart Kitchen System in Kadapa district.
To encourage emotional and creative development, the state declared every Saturday as “No Bag Day”, promoting co-curricular activities, sports, arts, and life-skills learning. The burden of nearly 45 digital applications on teachers was consolidated into a single integrated platform, enabling real-time classroom and parental engagement.
A new cream and olive-green school uniform free from political identity was introduced statewide. The state designed NCERT-aligned curriculum and launched bilingual syllabus with QR-coded learning content. The government initiated LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) to elevate government schools to corporate standards and is developing 175 model schools, beginning with Nidamaru ZP High School in Mangalagiri. Additionally, 9,600 Model Primary Schools were strengthened to implement a one-class–one-teacher system.
Over 35.94 lakh students received educational kits and assessment booklets free from political references. To achieve 100 percent literacy, the state launched Mission Akshara Andhra and strengthened adult education initiatives. The government introduced Yoga Andhra – 2025, with lakhs of students and teachers participating statewide between June 21 and July 2025. Two state-wide Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings were held in July and December, across 61,000 schools, with 53.4 lakh parents participating, earning Guinness World Records recognition for the July 10 event exceeding 1.5 crore total participation.
Environmental awareness was enhanced through the Green Passport initiative, while outstanding teachers are being honored annually and provided opportunities for international exposure in advanced education practices. In collaboration with Cyient Foundation, the state established AI, STEM and Robotics Labs in 50 Visakhapatnam government schools, at a cost of ₹8 crore. The government issued the AP TET 2025 notification, while a Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Baseline Survey covering 14 lakh students was conducted from November 24 to December 6.
Moral and civic education also received major focus. A value education conference was organized in Vijayawada with guidance from eminent spiritual scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao. On Constitution Day, students participated in a Mock Assembly at Amaravati, experiencing democratic governance firsthand, where the Chief Minister released the Children’s Constitution Book. A 100-Day SSC Action Plan was launched to boost results, and the Chief Minister introduced the Mustaabu Program on December 20, focusing on discipline, hygiene, confidence, and leadership among 75 lakh students.
Andhra Pradesh’s impactful education reforms have drawn national appreciation, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledging and praising the progressive transformation driven under Minister Nara Lokesh’s leadership.
