The government of Andhra Pradesh has announced a comprehensive land regularisation initiative for encroached government lands. The initiative aims to provide relief to underprivileged families.
According to local reports, the current administration aims to regularise land distributed to unauthorised individuals following numerous land encroachments that took place under the previous government
To keep the land regularisation process simple and transparent, applicants can submit their applications at MeeSeva Kendras, or village and ward secretariats. They must bring relevant land documents and identification proof, such as Aadhaar, to prevent any further issues.
According to G.O. No. 30, under the Land Regularisation Scheme 2025, the deadline for applications is December 31, 2025.
Upon regularisation, applicants will receive a title and conveyance deed. Ownership rights will be formally granted after two years, and land titles will be issued exclusively in the names of women.
Landholdings up to 150 square yards will be regularised free of charge, with no registration fee required. For larger landholdings, a nominal fee will be charged based on the land size, location and financial background of the owner.
Failure to apply for regularisation will result in the government reclaiming unauthorised lands. Priority areas for regularisation include canal and riverbanks, layout areas, zonal plan regions, master plan areas, and water resource zones. Any illegal encroachments in these areas will be taken over by the government
Those who have previously applied for land regularisation do not need to reapply, as the government will review existing applications. State-wide inspections will be conducted by MROs, village secretariat, and ward secretariat staff.
Once the process is complete, the list of eligible landholders will be displayed at village and ward secretariats. If there are any objections, individuals can file an appeal within 30 days.
