AP RERA committed to transparency, accountability and consumer protection in real estate sector

Guntur, December 8: AP Real Estate Regulatory Authority Chairperson A R Shivareddy said the authority is working with full commitment to ensure transparency, accountability and consumer protection in the real estate sector across Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the media at the AP RERA office in CRDA premises at Rayapudi, he said all real estate agents and developers must register online on the official website www.rera.ap.gov.in before participating in the sale, purchase or marketing of plots, apartments or buildings. He said project approvals are processed within stipulated timelines once required documents are uploaded.

Shivareddy said the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act ensures safe and transparent transactions for homebuyers. He said RERA maintains a cooperative environment for developers and buyers and acts promptly on complaints against misleading or fraudulent practices. Awareness programs about the Act will be conducted in one district every month across the combined districts from December 2025 to December 2026 starting with Tirupati. Developers were advised to maintain friendly communication with buyers, avoid false promises and ensure timely delivery of quality projects. He said the government has simplified several rules in building and layout regulations to support the real estate industry. Action will be taken against firms that deceive consumers.

AP RERA Director K Naga Sundari said 1,011 applications for project registration were received since January 2025 and 731 were approved. She said 214 projects and 27 marketing agencies were registered in the last two months after the new board took charge. She reminded that all layout projects and apartment projects above 500 square metres and more than 8 units must be registered with RERA. She said 115 projects have been successfully completed and project progress must be filed quarterly. Notices are being issued to unregistered projects, incomplete applications and delayed projects. Weekly hearings on Thursdays and Fridays are resolving consumer complaints and 285 orders have been issued so far. A help desk has been set up at the RERA office for registration and grievance support.

AP RERA members A Jagannadha Rao, M Venkat Ratnam, D Srinivasa Rao, U S L N Kameshwar Rao and J Kuldeep attended the meeting.
