Amaravati, January 11: State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav announced that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has given the green signal for the release of ₹6,700 crores in pending bills across various sectors as a Sankranti gift. Speaking to the media on Saturday after an extensive review meeting with the Finance Department at Undavalli, Minister Keshav shared this update. He mentioned that the Chief Minister reviewed the state's financial situation and the release of pending bills for nearly three hours and made several key decisions.

The Chief Minister approved the release of ₹6,700 crores towards pending bills for students, employees, police personnel, small contractors, and lease arrears for Amaravati farmers. This includes ₹1,300 crores for employee benefits such as GPF, surrendered leave, and CPS dues. Specifically, ₹519 crores are allocated for GPF dues, ₹214 crores for police surrendered leave dues, ₹300 crores for CPS arrears, and ₹265 crores for TDS payments.

Additionally, ₹788 crores will be released for fee reimbursement and SC/ST scholarships benefiting 6.5 lakh students, ₹500 crores for electricity subsidy arrears, ₹400 crores for NTR Medical Services Trust, and ₹100 crores for drugs and medicines dues.

Minister Keshav highlighted the struggles of small contractors under the previous government's policies, stating that many faced difficulties in receiving payments below ₹5 to ₹10 lakhs. To alleviate their burden, ₹586 crores are being released to benefit 26,000 such contractors. Furthermore, ₹90 crores are allocated for pending dues to 651 MSMEs and another 6,000 micro-entrepreneurs.

The government is also releasing ₹241 crores towards lease arrears for farmers who provided land for Amaravati capital development and Gannavaram Airport.

Minister Keshav criticized the previous government's financial mismanagement, stating it severely damaged the state's economy. He emphasized that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is working tirelessly to stabilize the economy and drive the state toward progress. The state is burdened with ₹10 lakh crores in pending dues, daily interest payments, and an additional pressure of ₹1.30 lakh crores in outstanding payments.

He also pointed out that the previous government failed to pay the state's share in 94 centrally sponsored schemes, implemented on a 60:40 ratio, causing those schemes to halt. To address this, ₹6,000 crores have been paid to the central government, reviving 73 such schemes.

Despite these challenges, the coalition government is making every effort to restore the state's financial health. On this occasion, the minister extended Sankranti greetings to all the people of the state.
