Officials asked to develop a system for plastic waste disposal

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to develop a system for disposal of plastic waste. He said a detailed study should be conducted on air, water, industrial waste, bio waste and plastic waste to bring down the pollution in the state to zero level.
The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting with officials of pollution control board and other departments at secretariat today. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the officials to use technology to bring down pollution. He said officials should act tough on those who violates the pollution control norms. The single use plastic use should be brought down in both urban and rural areas. Coming to bio waste disposal officials should see that the bio waste should be disposed in 48 hours.
The Chief Minister said that latest technology should be adopted to test air quality and the data should be linked to Aware 2.0. Necessary steps should be taken to make changes in giving licenses to industries keeping in view speed of doing business. He said permissions should be given for industries coming under Red Zone in 12 days, Orange zone in ten days and in Green zone in three days. Officials should focus more on mining pollution. Farmers using plastic sheets in micro irrigation which may result in health issues in long run and they should be asked to switch over to bio sheets. He said training should be given on environment protection. The Chief Minister permitted the Pollution Control Board to appoint more staff to check pollution.
