CM Naidu meets Sitharaman, seeks assistance under Purvodaya scheme

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu sought support from the Central Government to release funds under the Purvodaya scheme to accelerate the development of backward regions in Andhra Pradesh.

During his visit to Delhi today, the Chief Minister submitted a memorandum to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, outlining the state’s plans under the Purvodaya scheme. He emphasized that comprehensive strategies have been prepared to foster growth across all backward regions in the state.

He highlighted initiatives to promote horticulture in Rayalaseema, coffee plantations, cashew and coconut cultivation in North Andhra, and aquaculture in the coastal regions. He noted that the Purvodaya scheme presents a significant opportunity to boost economic development in these areas.

The Chief Minister requested that the Union Government consider allocating additional resources to support these initiatives and ensure balanced regional development
