NALLAJARLA: The NDA government committed to safeguard the interests of farmers by making agriculture sector as a profitable one following an action plan of pancha Sutras (Five principles), observed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said the state government giving highest priority towards welfare of farmers. Taking part in the progressive steps of government, farmers should give priority to take up demand-driven cultivation.

The Chief Minister participating in Rytanna Meekosam programme at Nallajarla in Gopalapuram constituency of East Godavari district today, interacted with farmers and discussed on agricultural action plan. He personally visited their fields to see the crop pattern including internal crops. He said 62 per cent of people in the state are depending on agricultural sector. Stressing the need for more  income to farmers, he appealed to farmers to focus on agricultural allied sectors. Steps should be taken to improve ground water level. The ground water level across the state stands at 6.8 metres by December one and in East Godavari district at 18 metres. He said East Godavari, Eluru and Prakasam districts registered low ground water levels. He said efforts are on to supply water to all the regions by linking Krishna and Godavari rivers.

The Chief Minister said reorientation of agriculture  sector should be taken up and the research projects of agricultural universities to benefit farmers. Farmers can get more income by using technology in palm oil cultivation. He said aqua  culture sector suffered due to fall in exports. Likewise maize and tobacco farmers also facing problem .  He said efforts are on to provide direct marketing facilities for agricultural and horticultural produce by setting up of MSME parks. As part of it, Rayalaseema region will be developed as horticulture hub as the region producilng 18 varieties of fruits. In Chittoor district mango farmers achieved quality yield by using covers to mangoes to protect them from pests.  He said horticulture sector fetching a GSDP of 1.85 lakh crore. He said farmers should follow demand-driven cultivation system to get more revenue. No body aware of Araku coffee in the past and now it turned as a global brand as the state government promoted Araku coffee in a big way.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the NDA government is committed for the welfare of farmers and making efforts to protect the interests of farmers. He said the state government introduced several reforms for the benefit of people including whatsapp governance. He said the state government attracted investments to a tune of Rs 13.25 lakh crore during CII partnership summit in Visakhapatnam and the Google company is going to set up AI data centre in Visakhapatnam. The state government determined to provide employment opportunities to 20 lakh youth.
