AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to shift people of coastal areas to rehabilitation centres immediately as the cyclone is likely to be intensified from tomorrow.

The Chief Minister conducted a teleconference with district collectors and Superintendents of police from RTGS centre at Secretariat today. He asked the collectors to supply quality food to people in rehabililtation centres and appoint special in-charges for the centres. He said necessary precautions should be taken to prevent pollution of drinking water and ensure supply of safe drinking water. He said district collectors should take complete responsibility by utilizing the services of people  in cyclone relief measures. He enquired the collectors about the situation in their respective districts. Nellore district collector Himanshu Shukla said precautionary measures have been taken in view of incessant rains in Nellore district.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to be more alert to prevent breaches to tanks and irrigation channels. He said drainage system should be improved to prevent inundation of areas. Likewise officials should take precautions  at hill areas like Vijayawada, Mangalagiri and Visakhapatnam as there is possibility of landslides. He said officials should prepare an action plan to face the challenge of Montha cyclone.
