AP Power Utilities Diary – 2026 Released; APCPDCL Celebrates 6th Anniversary
On the occasion of the release of the AP Power Utilities Diary – 2026 and the 6th anniversary celebrations of Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL), a special program was organized on Wednesday at Venue Convention Center, Vijayawada. Chief Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman & Managing Director of APGENCO and APTRANSCO, K. Vijayanand, participated in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said that the power sector is one of the most crucial sectors, and ensuring 24×7 uninterrupted power supply remains the primary goal. Continuous and quality power supply increases public satisfaction and enhances respect for the government. He stated that the AP power sector is recognized across the country for operating with very minimal power loss of only 9.6 percent. Keeping financial sustainability in view, the department is working to supply quality power efficiently. With the support of Central and State Governments and financial institutions, the state has achieved 100 percent electrification, including supplying solar power to tribal and remote hill areas. He appreciated the dedication of employees at every level in the power sector. He added that steps are being taken to ensure three-phase power supply in rural areas and that 9 hours of free power is being supplied to the agriculture sector. He announced that plans are underway to maintain the power unit cost at Rs. 4.60 for FY 2026 and reduce the cost of power to Rs. 4 per unit by 2029.
APGENCO Managing Director S. Nagalakshmi extended greetings on APCPDCL’s 6th anniversary and said that advanced technology should be utilized to reduce losses and improve quality power supply. She stressed focus on renewable energy through the Green Energy Policy and preparedness to meet future challenges in the power sector.
NREDCAP Vice Chairman & Managing Director M.M. Kamalakar Babu explained the State Government’s goals in renewable energy, particularly in solar, wind, and green hydrogen sectors, and emphasized coordinated efforts to meet targets by 2029.
APCPDCL Chairman & Managing Director P. Pulla Reddy said every employee has been working dedicatedly to strengthen APCPDCL and efforts are being made to install PM Surya Ghar rooftop solar systems on every household as envisioned by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He stated that consumer satisfaction has increased from 60–62 percent earlier to 75 percent in December and the goal is to reach 85 percent. He emphasized supply of quality power with proper voltage and uninterrupted service.
Chief Electrical Inspector Vijayalakshmi highlighted the importance of preventing electrical accidents and ensuring safety compliance. She stressed achieving “100% Safety – 0% Accidents” and said awareness among the public should be taken up as a movement. She suggested installing RCCB units in every home to prevent hazards from short circuits, leakage currents, and faulty wiring.
JMD (HRD & Vigilance) Surya Sai Praveen Chand stated that last year around 130 km of circuit lines and 1200 MW of additional transmission capacity were added. He said 27 new substations were commissioned under DISCOM limits, about 80,000 million units of power were supplied last year, and the state’s peak demand reached 13,120 MW. Nearly 40 percent of the power capacity is currently being met through renewable sources like solar and wind.
Later, calendars and diaries of AP power sector organizations for 2026 were released.
