Amaravati:
The Central Government has initiated measures for issuing identity cards to persons with disabilities (PwDs), and in line with this, the State Government will take the necessary steps for their issuance, said Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

On Friday, the Minister held a review meeting at the Velagapudi Secretariat in Amaravati with concerned officials regarding the welfare of PwDs and senior citizens. The discussions focused on the issuance of UDID (Unique Disability ID) certificates and implementation of the PMJAY Vandan Health Scheme for the elderly.

The Minister emphasized that arrangements should be made to facilitate slot bookings for SADAREM certificates through Gram Sachivalayams, MeeSeva centers, and the Mana Mitra WhatsApp Governance platform. He instructed that the certificates must be issued within one month from the date of slot booking.

To ensure convenience for PwDs from remote and tribal areas, special UDID camps must be organized. The identity cards will contain details such as the percentage of disability and other relevant personal information. Officials have been directed to expedite the production and distribution of these identity cards.

Furthermore, the Minister announced that every citizen aged 70 and above will be eligible for free healthcare worth ₹5 lakh under the PMJAY Vandan Scheme. This initiative aims to ensure health security and dignity for the elderly population.
