G. Sai Prasad to Assume Charge as Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary on Saturday
Amaravati, February 27:
G. Sai Prasad will assume charge as the new Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday at the AP Secretariat. The State Government had earlier issued G.O.Rt. No. 2230 on November 29, extending the tenure of the current Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand by three months until February 28 and appointing Sai Prasad as his successor.
Accordingly, Sai Prasad will take charge as Chief Secretary at 11:33 a.m. on Saturday at the AP Secretariat.
A 1991-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Sai Prasad holds an M.Tech degree. He was selected to the IAS on September 15, 1991, and served as Assistant Collector in Warangal from June 1992 to May 1993. He later worked as Assistant Collector in Paderu from September 1993 to April 1995 and as Commissioner of Guntur Municipal Corporation from August 1995 to March 1997.
He subsequently served as Joint Collector of Kadapa from May 1997 to August 1998, Collector of Kurnool from July 2000 to June 2003, and Collector of Chittoor from June 2003 to October 2003. From October 2003 to August 2004, he worked as Joint Managing Director of AP Transco, followed by his tenure as CMD of AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited from August 2004 to May 2006 and as CMD of AP Central Power Distribution Company Limited from May 2006 to February 2010. He also served as Vice Chairman of AP Housing Board from February 2010 to October 2011.
At the national level, he worked as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Power from October 2011 to June 2014. He later served as Secretary to the Chief Minister from June 2014 to February 2016 and as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister from February 2016 to May 2019.
From January 2020 to February 2022, he served as CMD of AP Solar Power Corporation Private Limited and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary, Energy Department. He later held the post of Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) from February 2022 to June 2024. Since June 2024, he has been serving as Special Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department, and from January 2025 onward, he has additionally been functioning as Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Sai Prasad will formally take charge as the new Chief Secretary on Saturday.
