Rs.59.39 Crore APTRANSCO Project to Strengthen Transmission Network in Eluru District

State Government Committed to 24×7 Reliable and Quality Power Supply

Major Boost to Voltage Regulation and 9-Hour Daytime Power Supply for Agriculture

Nearly One Lakh Consumers in Lingapalem Mandal to Benefit

Vijayawada/Eluru, January 23: The Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Gottipati Ravi Kumar stated that the State Government is giving top priority to strengthening power transmission infrastructure to ensure 24×7 reliable and quality power supply across the State, particularly for agriculture and rural areas.

As part of this initiative, the Minister for Energy inaugurated the 132/33 kV Substation on Friday at Dharmajigudem in Lingapalem Mandal of Eluru District, established by APTRANSCO at a project cost of Rs.59.39 crore, to meet the growing power demand of the region and improve voltage regulation.

The State Housing, Information & Public Relations Minister Sri Kolusu Parthasarathi, Eluru Member of Parliament Sri Putta Mahesh Kumar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Smt. Ghanta Padmashree, and MLAs Sri Songa Roshan Kumar, Sri Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Sri Patsamatla Dharmaraju and Sri Maddipati Venkataraju participated in the inauguration programme.

Reiterating the vision of the Honourable Chief Minister Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the energy minister said the Government is firmly committed to providing uninterrupted power supply to all sectors, including agriculture, households and industries. “Strengthening transmission infrastructure through timely commissioning of substations is a key objective to ensure system reliability, improved voltage profile and preparedness for future load growth. These efforts reflect the Chief Minister’s focus on power sector reforms, infrastructure modernisation and farmer-centric governance”, said Energy Minister.

Earlier, power supply to Lingapalem Mandal was being extended at the 33 kV level from distant 132/33 kV substations at Chintalapudi, Pedavegi and Kamavarapukota, leading to low voltage and higher line losses. With the commissioning of the Dharmajigudem substation, APTRANSCO has significantly strengthened the local transmission network, facilitating reliable and quality power supply, including 9-hour daytime power supply to agriculture.

The substation is equipped with two 50 MVA power transformers and draws power from the 132 kV line sourced from the 220 kV Kamavarapukota Substation. It is expected to benefit nearly one lakh consumers, covering villages such as Dharmajigudem, Bhogole, Rangapuram and Kalarayanagudem in Lingapalem Mandal.

The project will help resolve low-voltage problems, reduce line losses and interruptions, meet future load demand, and serve as an alternative power source for nearby 33/11 kV substations, thereby enhancing overall reliability of the power supply system in the region.

The Minister mentioned that the government is providing the necessary infrastructure to meet the increasing annual energy consumption. He said that the coalition government is working towards further reducing electricity charges in the future. He emphasized that the government is striving to reduce the unit charge by up to Rs.1.19 within three years. He also highlighted that power generation is being increased through available resources and that power shortages are being controlled effectively.

The Energy Minister criticized the previous YSRCP government, stating that it increased electricity charges nine times and imposed a burden of Rs.30,000 crore on the people. He alleged that the electricity department was destroyed due to the reckless policies of Jagan Reddy. He added that the current government is implementing reforms to recover the losses incurred during the previous regime. He said that electricity is being supplied at lower rates to attract industrial investments.

Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and APTRANSCO Zonal officers, local public representatives and other officials of power utilities have also participated in the inauguration program
