Physical exercise is essential for everyone to stay healthy and to relieve stress caused by work and family responsibilities, said Sri Kona Sasidhar, IAS, Secretary, School Education Department.
The LEAP Cricket Tournament – 2025, organized under the aegis of the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha, was inaugurated on Thursday at the Doctors Cricket Ground, Mangalagiri, Guntur District.
This tournament, organised exclusively for non teaching staff from all districts under the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha, will be held for five days, with 16 teams participating. After the flag hoisting ceremony, the Secretary received a guard of honor from all teams and distributed cricket kits to the players. The event was graced by Sri Vijay Rama Raju V., IAS, (Director of School Education); Sri B. Srinivasa Rao, IAS, (SPD, Samagra Shiksha)and Sri G. Ganesh Kumar, IAS, (Director of Technical Education.) Speaking on the occasion, Sri Kona Sasidhar, IAS, appreciated the crucial role played by the non teaching staff in successfully implementing major initiatives such as the Mega DSC recruitment drive, transfers and promotions recently undertaken by the State Government.
He mentioned that the tournament was organised to bring mental rejuvenation to the staff and encouraged everyone to take the games in a sportive and positive spirit.He stated that the School Education Department has been at the forefront of implementing several educational reforms successfully due to the hard work and dedication of its staff.
He also expressed his intention to organize this tournament every year.

HRD Minister Sri Nara Lokesh conveyed his congratulations to all staff members actively participating in departmental initiatives and to all the players taking part in the LEAP Cricket Tournament.
On the first day, the teams Samagra Sharks and East Godavari Titans competed in the opening match.
