Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha Expresses Concern Over Tirumala Laddu Controversy

Amaravati: The Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha has expressed serious concern over the alleged adulteration of ghee used in the preparation of Tirumala Laddu prasadam.

The Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha, founded by revered Swami Dayananda Saraswati, is regarded as one of the highest decision-making bodies on matters related to Hindu Dharma. The Sabha includes representatives from various ancient traditions such as Peethas, Akhadas, Adheenams and Lingayat institutions.

In a statement, the Sabha conveyed deep anguish over reports that the ghee used in preparing the sacred Tirumala Laddu prasadam was adulterated. The statement was issued by the Sabha’s Secretary General and Convenor, Swami Paramatmananda Saraswati.

Swami Paramatmananda Saraswati said the Sabha had earlier discussed the issue of alleged adulteration in the ghee used for the prasadam. He noted that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Supreme Court has now confirmed the adulteration.

He stated that the issue has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. According to scriptures, only pure ghee should be used in offerings made as naivedyam, and religious rituals must be carried out with the highest level of sanctity and responsibility.

The Sabha emphasised that the issue should not be viewed merely as food adulteration, but as a violation of Hindu religious and scriptural norms.

The Acharya Sabha also held the previous government responsible for the supply of adulterated ghee, stating that it had failed in its sacred duty to safeguard the sanctity of temple offerings.

To prevent such incidents in the future, the Sabha recommended organising seminars and conferences on “Dravya Shuddhi” (purity of materials) based on scriptural and Agama principles.

It further stated that only individuals with a deep sense of religious responsibility and commitment should be entrusted with the management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The Sabha urged governments across the country to treat temple administration not as a routine department but as a sacred responsibility.
