Speed Trial Monitoring Strengthened in Krishna District Courts; Faster Convictions Ensured

Krishna District Police have intensified monitoring of criminal cases through the Speed Trial Monitoring System to ensure timely punishment for offenders. Under the leadership of District SP V. Vidyasagar Naidu, IPS, court monitoring mechanisms have been strengthened to prevent delays and ensure quicker justice for victims.

To improve case follow-up across 41 courts in the district, the number of Court Monitoring System (CMS) personnel has been increased from 24 to 35. From the time a chargesheet is filed until the court pronounces judgment, these teams closely track progress, assist in evidence submission, and coordinate with officials to expedite trial proceedings.

Special attention is being given to serious offences such as crimes against women and children, economic offences, murders, and assault cases. Continuous monitoring aims to ensure swift investigation, timely prosecution, and strict punishment for offenders.

Since September 15, 2025, the district police have secured convictions in 216 cases through coordinated monitoring efforts. Officials stated that this has strengthened public confidence in policing and the justice system while reinforcing efforts toward a crime-free society.

Several notable convictions include:

A POCSO case registered at Pamidimukkala Police Station resulted in life imprisonment until death within just 10 months of trial completion.

In another POCSO case at Gannavaram Police Station, the accused was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.

A murder-for-gain case registered at Kankipadu Police Station led to life imprisonment for three accused.

A murder case at Bandar Taluka Police Station resulted in life sentences for two accused along with eight others.

A murder case registered at Pamarru Police Station led to five years imprisonment for the accused.

POCSO cases registered at Uyyuru Town and Penamaluru Police Stations resulted in five-year prison sentences with fines for the accused.

The SP has directed officers to collect evidence promptly and file chargesheets within stipulated timelines, particularly prioritising crimes against women and children in line with directives from the State DGP.

Police officials continue regular coordination meetings with public prosecutors, court staff, and investigating officers to monitor sensitive cases. Efforts also include witness protection, ensuring court attendance, and preventing intimidation or inducement by accused persons.

Officials noted that faster convictions increase deterrence among offenders, help reduce crime rates, and strengthen public trust in law enforcement and the judiciary.
