Mega Medicity to be built in Amaravati – boost for health tourism.

CM’s Detailed Presentation on District-wise Health Issues

Amaravati, April 7,2025: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that adopting healthy food habits and lifestyle changes can improve overall health. He emphasized regular exercise, yoga, and meditation for better health outcomes. A daily 30-minute walk and spiritual focus help reduce stress, he said. Yoga, India’s heritage, is now embraced globally. Avoiding tobacco, drugs, and alcohol can significantly reduce cancer, liver, and kidney problems. CM recommended reducing junk food and polished rice intake while promoting millets, unpolished rice, fiber-rich food, and vegetables.

On Monday, the CM presented district-wise health reports at the Secretariat to the media. He expressed his vision to transform the state into “Healthy Andhra Pradesh” and said the government is striving to build a Healthy, Wealthy, and Happy AP.

*Salt, Oil, and Sugar Consumption Should Be Minimized*

For a family of four, 600 grams of salt per month is sufficient for good health. Oil consumption should not exceed 2 liters and sugar no more than 3 kg per month. Excess usage leads to health issues. Everyone should try to eat smaller portions more frequently. Reducing salt intake alone can lower heart attack risks by 40%. Kerala has introduced sugar-free school meals; Tamil Nadu offers free glucose test strips at ration shops. In AP, clean cookstoves have been distributed to Anganwadi centers. Singapore’s dengue-proof housing model uses special paint to repel mosquitoes—such innovative methods can help control disease.

The NTR Trust has developed the Nutrifull App, which has already won a SKOCH award and is used by 4 lakh people.

*Reduce Pesticide Usage*

CM cautioned farmers against excessive use of pesticides, citing Punjab’s transformation into the “Cancer Capital.” He emphasized creating awareness among AP farmers to shift toward natural farming. The government is also considering incorporating food habit education in school curricula.

*Health Records in DigiLocker*

AP leads in implementing Ayushman Bharat health accounts, with 88% of the population already covered. A pilot Digital Nerve Center has been launched in Kuppam. Phase 2 will cover Chittoor and Phase 3 will expand state-wide. The goal is to establish virtual hospitals within 26 months, store health records in DigiLocker, and track individuals’ health from childhood. Alerts will be sent to predict health risks. Mobile medical vans will facilitate home testing, and doctors will be available online and offline.

*Collaboration with Tata and Gates Foundations*

With the help of Tata and the Gates Foundation, AP will adopt world-class healthcare technology and practices. Every constituency will have a 100-300 bed multi-speciality hospital. Out of 175 constituencies, 70 already have such facilities. The remaining 105 will get new hospitals under PPP mode with viability gap funding and land allotment. AP will study models from MP, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh to ensure best practices.

*Mega Medicity in Amaravati*

A global-scale Mega Medicity will be established in Amaravati through PPP. The Center plans to develop 25 Medicities across India, and discussions are underway to locate one in Amaravati. The Medicity will span 200 acres: 100 acres for healthcare services, 40 for residential, and 20 for commercial use. This initiative, jointly handled by the Health Department and CRDA, will also promote health tourism.
