Minister Durgesh urges FDC to elevate Telugu cinema at global festivals

Amaravati, December 4, 2025: Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh met with Film Development Corporation Managing Director K S Viswanathan at the Velagapudi Secretariat. During the meeting the Minister stressed the need to showcase Telugu cinema prominently at international film festivals.

Viswanathan presented the first prize awarded to the state’s tableau at the International Film Festival of India held in Goa from November 20 to 28. He explained that for the first time the FDC designed a special tableau themed Heartbeat of Indian Cinema with 20 live actors which received wide appreciation.

The discussion covered recent activities undertaken by the Film Development Corporation after the formation of the coalition government. The Minister reviewed plans for strengthening the film, television and theatre ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.

Durgesh offered suggestions regarding the conduct of Nandi awards and Nandi Natakotsavams and instructed the FDC to ensure their annual organisation. He also discussed the Kandukuri awards presented on April 16 each year to recognise excellence in theatre and directed officials to begin preparations for the coming year.

The Minister asked the FDC to prepare proposals for upcoming cultural and cinematic programs.
