Mangalagiri: AP Education Minister Nara Lokesh has said the proposed 100-bed government hospital in Mangalagiri would be a model for the entire country. On Sunday, he laid the foundation for the hospital in Chinakakani. This, he noted, was a dream of the locals for the past three decades. “My ambition is to transform Mangalagiri into an ideal constituency,” he stressed. The minister distributed house-sites to beneficiaries at a Mana Illu-Mana Lokesh (Our House-Our Lokesh) programme in Yerrabalem. The beneficiaries are from the Tadepalli drivers colony, the Salam Centre, the Vundavalli Centre, Seethanagaram and Padmashali Bazar.

In an address, the minister said that he got the sanction for the 100-bed hospital at the second cabinet meeting of the TD-led government. “I will see to it that this hospital is completed in 365 days and it will be dedicated to the people of Mangalagiri,” he said. Promising the people that underground drainage, drinking water and the power projects in the constituency would be launched in June, the minister said, “As per my promise to develop tanks and parks, I have launched the first park in Mangalagiri. Several people had made requests for community halls. As promised during electioneering, land has been identified for 17 such facilities. Construction of two buildings has been taken up.”

"We will complete the construction of the community halls in 18 months. Also, you all know the poor condition of roads. All the roads have now been repaired and the potholes filled. The four-lane road between Mangalagiri and Tenali has been taken up," Lokesh said. Recalling the demand for a retaining wall in Mangalagiri, Lokesh promised to take up the construction at a cost of `300 crore. "In 2019, I decided to contest from Mangalagiri. I came here just 20 days before the elections and could not do the campaign extensively. I lost the polls with a margin of 5,300 votes. I really felt sad but resolved to win the seat the next time. I worked hard and won your hearts. This enabled me to win the seat with a huge margin last year,” he said. Listing out several programmes taken up in the Mangalagiri segment, Lokesh said that with the cooperation of Anagani Satya Prasad, house-site patts are being distributed to 3,000 families within the last 10 months
