Preparations Completed for National Deworming Day; Minister Satya Kumar Releases Awareness Video
Amaravati, Feb 10, 2026: Minister for Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education Satya Kumar Yadav released an AI-based awareness video in Mangalagiri ahead of National Deworming Day scheduled for February 2026. The video aims to create awareness about the impact of intestinal worms on children’s health, including malnutrition and anaemia.
The National Deworming Day programme will be conducted across the state on February 17, 2026, targeting approximately 1.11 crore children. This includes about 24 lakh children aged 1–5 years, covering Anganwadi beneficiaries and out-of-school children, and around 87 lakh children aged 6–19 years from schools, junior colleges, ITIs, and nursing colleges.
Officials informed the Minister that Albendazole tablets required for the programme have already been distributed to districts. Extensive awareness campaigns are being carried out through AI videos, posters, and radio jingles. Coordination among Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and teachers is being ensured so that eligible children receive the medication without delay.
