Negligence Towards Hostel Students Will Not Be Tolerated: Minister Savitha

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh BC, EWS Welfare, Handlooms, and Textiles Minister Savitha has expressed strong displeasure over the incident at the BC hostel in CK Palli, Sathya Sai district, where students were reportedly deprived of their midday meal. Taking immediate action, the minister directed the BC welfare officials to provide the necessary food arrangements and ordered the district collector to take disciplinary action against the hostel welfare officer (HWO).

On Sunday, Minister Savitha held discussions over the phone with the district collector and BC welfare officials regarding the issue. She questioned why the midday meal was not provided and condemned the negligence shown towards the students. Emphasizing that such carelessness is unacceptable, she instructed officials to ensure that students receive proper meals without any lapses, including dinner.

In a swift response, Minister Savitha directed the collector to immediately suspend CK Palli BC Boys’ Hostel HWO, Narayana Swamy. Following her orders, the BC welfare department arranged meals for the students, and the collector, T.S. Chetan, issued orders relieving the HWO from his duties. The minister further called for an investigation into the incident and asked for a detailed report.

Minister Savitha reiterated that parents entrust their children to hostels with faith in the authorities, and it is the collective responsibility of officials to safeguard their well-being. She issued a stern warning that any negligence towards hostel students will not be tolerated and that those found guilty, including HWOs and other staff members, will be removed from their positions if necessary.
