Visakhapatnam, September 21: Senior journalist Nimmaraju Chalapathi Rao has urged BJP State President and former MLC P. V. N. Madhav to recommend the restoration of railway passes for journalists, which were discontinued by the Centre during the Covid period.
During a courtesy call on Madhav in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, Nimmaraju felicitated him with a shawl. On the occasion, he appealed to Madhav to take steps to ensure pension benefits for journalists above 60 years of age in both Telugu states. He pointed out that 11 states across the country are already providing pensions of not less than ₹10,000 to journalists.
Responding to the request, Madhav assured that he would extend special attention to both demands. Nimmaraju also recalled his close association with Madhav’s late father, P. V. Chalapathi Rao, who served as an MLC and led the BJP in undivided Andhra Pradesh from 1980.
