Protecting tribal lands is government's responsibility: Minister Gummidi Sandhyarani

Amaravati, Aug 17: State Tribal Welfare and Women & Child Welfare Minister Gummidi Sandhyarani has made it clear that the alliance government is fully committed to protecting the lands of tribals. He said that the opposition's campaign to repeal the 1/70 Act is completely false. They are trying to gain political mileage by luring and intimidating the tribals.

The Minister was speaking at a press conference. It is the responsibility of the government to protect the 1/70 law that is in force for the protection of tribal land. He assured the tribals that there is no need to panic and the government will stand by them.

The Minister questioned how justified it was to provoke the tribals outside the House by putting questions on the problems of the tribals and not coming to the House to listen to the answers. If there is sincerity on public issues, it should be discussed in the Assembly, he said.

"Teachers teach us. Lessons will also be taught, "the minister said, adding that the YSRCP leaders who are holding rallies should first recall their previous rule.

"Saying that I will come to the Assembly only if I am given the status of opposition is like saying 'maaram' if children are not given chocolates," he said. He urged the people to respect the verdict of the people and act responsibly on public issues.

The minister alleged that during the previous YCP government, there was a lot of neglect towards tribal welfare. Along with the dismantling of ITDAs, 18 schemes for tribals have been stopped.

"The YCP leaders are acting as if the black seed will not grow under them," the minister said. He said that before talking about the welfare of the tribals, one should remember the injustice done to the tribals under the previous government.
What did the then Chief Minister Jagan do at the time of the cancellation? People have not forgotten the steps taken by the then government on tribal employment and education rights.

GO No.3  DSC or any tribal issue, the YCP party responds late," he said. It is not right for the opposition to provoke the tribals for political gains, who should work for a solution from the front when problems arise.

No one knows where the opposition leader is. I don't know if he is in Bangalore, "She said.

The minister said the alliance government attaches the highest priority to the safety, welfare and protection of the rights of the tribals. He urged the tribals not to believe the false propaganda of the opposition and trust the government.
