NEW DELHI  ; In a significant development, IT and Electronics minister Nara Lokesh, along with spouse Brahmani and their son Devansh, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s official residence in Delhi on Saturday. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half. Warmth and cordiality marked the meeting. The PM made it a point to take the family around his house, a privilege not extended to AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu when the latter had visited the Prime Minister

Sources said the meeting took place after PM Modi expressed his desire to meet Lokesh and his family in the wake of the Prime Minister relaunching the Amaravati capital works on May 2. During the meeting, the PM is said to have inquired about the well-being of Lokesh’s family, taking a particular interest in their personal and family life. He affectionately interacted with young Devansh, reportedly drawing him close and engaging him in a friendly conversation.

Significantly, the Prime Minister unveiled a coffee table book “Yuvagalam,” which chronicles the historic 3,132-km padayatra that Lokesh had undertaken in the run-up to the 2024 elections, which resulted in the historic win of the NDA coalition in Andhra Pradesh. Lokesh’s spouse Brahmani has designed the coffee table book. As a mark of appreciation, Narendra Modi signed a copy of the book and presented it to Lokesh.

Apart from the personal rapport, the meeting is believed to have included discussions on key issues concerning the state of Andhra Pradesh. Sources hinted that during the one-to-one conversation between Modi and Lokesh, they touched upon various developmental matters and state-level concerns. Lokesh sought blessings, guidance and continued support of the PM to development and progress of Andhra Pradesh.

The key AP minister informed Modi about the good administration that the TD-BJP-Jana Sena coalition government is delivering in Andhra Pradesh. He explained implementation of various welfare schemes and projects, including Amaravati, financial condition of the state, and other issues related to AP. The meeting between the PM and Lokesh has come at a time when Amaravati’s reconstruction and development efforts are gaining momentum. The one-on-one conversation is being seen by many as a potential signal of increasing alignment between the centre and the Andhra Pradesh government
