Vijayawada:MP Kesineni Sivanath emphasized that the PM Suryaghar Mukt Bijli Yojana aims to alleviate the burden of electricity bills on citizens by promoting solar panel installations.  During an awareness rally held on Tuesday, the MP urged citizens to avail themselves of this opportunity and illuminate their homes with solar power, turning them into symbols of sustainability.

Accompanied by District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha, MP Kesineni Sivanath flagged off the rally at Patamata NTR Circle, which concluded at Gurunanak Colony. The leaders then visited the home of beneficiary Manna Naga Bhaskaramma in Gurunanak Nagar to inspect the rooftop solar panel system. Impressed with the beneficiary’s efforts, the MP congratulated her for setting an example.

Speaking at the event, MP Kesineni Sivanath highlighted that the scheme allows beneficiaries to install 3 KW solar panels worth ₹2 lakhs at a subsidized rate of ₹78,000, with the amount accessible through low-interest bank loans. The solar panels provide free electricity for 20 years, producing up to 300 units of electricity per month. Surplus electricity can be supplied to the grid for additional income.

Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha stated that the district administration aims to install solar panels in 2 lakh homes, making NTR district a pioneer in solar energy. Over 1 lakh beneficiaries are expected to secure loans, with 800 applications already received and 700 applicants having contributed their 10% share.

The Collector assured swift processing of loan applications and highlighted that utilizing solar energy not only reduces financial burdens but also contributes to a pollution-free environment. Around 70,000 beneficiaries have already registered for the scheme, including members of self-help groups.

The program saw participation from several dignitaries, including Municipal Commissioner H.M. Dhyan Chandra, AP Building and Construction Workers Advisory Committee Chairman Gottumukkala Raghurama Raju, TDP leaders Chennupati Gandhi and Boppana Bhavakumar, State Telugu Mahila Vice President Aasha, Corporator Chennupati Usharani, TDP Youth Leader Gadde Kranti Kumar, and other NDA leaders and activists.
